Thanks all for your help. My question is I am in a full time MBA in one of the top european universities and we were told to apply to internship begining Nov to December. Interview will be january 2026. So in the event that I don't get invited for an interview for a firm. can I apply for full time from July 2026.or is there a ban for those in the mba who dont get internship interview. I know firms hire more people for full time than internship so I would not want to mess that. My MBA program is one year so the gap if there is a rejection is 6 months. Thanks all.
Does internship application lead to Ban period for full time MBA
Good question — and one that comes up often during MBA recruiting. The short answer is no, there’s typically no ban if you don’t get an internship interview. You can still apply for full-time roles later that year, even if you didn’t get invited during the internship cycle.
From my experience supporting consulting recruiting, this is very common — especially at one-year MBA programs. If MBB or other firms had a hard rule against reapplying, it would disqualify a huge portion of otherwise strong candidates, which isn’t the case at all.
One caveat - if you do get rejected after an actual interview (especially 1st round), some offices may choose to enforce a 12-month reapplication policy — but that’s usually tied to post-interview rejections, especially for a relatively weak 1st round showing.
So yes, you can 100% apply again for full-time starting in July — and many people successfully do. Just make sure to use the time in between to sharpen your prep, network smartly, and close any gaps from your first application. You’re not out of the game.
Hi there,
Great and specific question.
The answer here is clear - For MBB: No, there is no "ban" on you as a full-time appilcant, even if you don't receive an interview for an internship.
As you accurately point out, there are a lot more full-time positions than there are internship positions for MBB firms, so they definitely do not block previous internship applicants from consideration for full time roles.
Hope this helps!
Sincerely,
Thor
