That's a really common question about these online assessments, especially with how often they seem to change.

While reaching out to the recruiter for the latest format is solid advice, it's also helpful to understand what these tests are fundamentally trying to measure. Firms like PwC use tools like SHL primarily as a high-volume cognitive filter. They're not looking to trick you; they're assessing your baseline numerical, verbal, and logical reasoning under time pressure. Think of it as a proxy for how quickly you can process information, identify patterns, and draw conclusions – skills absolutely critical in consulting.

So beyond just the specific format, focus your practice on strengthening those core analytical muscles. Work on quickly interpreting graphs, understanding complex passages, and solving logic puzzles efficiently. There are plenty of generic SHL practice sites out there that replicate the types of questions, even if the exact presentation changes. Speed and accuracy are key here.

Hope this perspective helps you prepare effectively!

The format of the tests keeps on changing, so I strongly recommend you reach out directly to the recruiter to ask for more info on the format of the test, and ask whether they have any sample, or whether they recommend any places where you could practice.

They try to be helpful because they want you to succeed. And they are also the ones who have the most accurate perspective on the latest format of the test.

Best,
Cristian

The SHL test covers three things: verbal reasoning, numerical reasoning, and sometimes a situational judgement test.

Verbal reasoning is just reading a passage and deciding if a statement is true, false, or unclear. The only rule: use what is written, nothing else.

Numerical reasoning is basic maths with tables and charts. The maths is easy. Speed is the real test.

Situational judgement is about picking the most professional, calm, client-aware response. There is usually a clear right answer.

Just practice a few timed SHL samples before you sit it. Not to learn tricks, just to get comfortable with the pace. That is usually enough.

Good luck.

Hi there :)

The PwC SHL assessment typically tests numerical reasoning, logical or inductive reasoning, and sometimes verbal reasoning. In some regions there is also a situational judgement part that looks at how you approach work situations and teamwork. The main thing is speed and accuracy with data interpretation, charts, and patterns, so practicing SHL style tests beforehand usually helps a lot.

Best,
Alessa :)
