Do graduates have less competitiveness compared to those in the last year?

Last year, there was a significant reduction in the number of hires following the high levels during the COVID years. This year, there might be an increase again, but it really depends on the company, the region, and many other factors

I’m noticing a general increase in consulting recruiting targets across several regions, particularly in the Middle East, though Central Europe and the UK still seem to be lagging. 

Keep in mind that this varies significantly by firm, region, and office, so approach this information with caution.

Supply of vacancies is slowly resuming - an year of rationalization and depressed hiring is finally coming to an end. I would say that overall the competitiveness will still be above pre-COVID levels since now consulting firms are doubly cautious in hiring.

With general retraction of consulting client business which has put some pressure on consulting staff count and number of consultants on the beach, there seems to have been some increase in screening requirements. I have seen this with some consultants who passed screening previously (and then failed online assessments) - but then when re-applying they didn't pass screening.

Agree with this perception.

Firms do invite fewer people at the moment, so the screening stage is the tricky part. Once moved to the interviews the offer rates are pretty stable.
