Beginner Preparing for EY-Parthenon Take-Home Case

Hi everyone,

I’m preparing for an upcoming EY-Parthenon (Transaction Strategy & Execution) interview. I’ll receive a take-home case on November 4th that I’ll have 48 hours to prepare and then present.

I’m completely new to case interviews and M&A-style cases, so I’m looking for:

  • Help understanding how to structure a case like this.
  • Any advice or tips from someone who has gone through a similar EY take-home case.
  • Any help is very appreciated

Thanks in advance,
Mads B. H. Jensen

Hi Mads,

For a take-home / written case, what is assessed aside from problem-solving (which will be the core of a live case) is presentation (in both written and verbal form).

You will need to prepare a presentation of a few powerpoint pages, deliver it and then be prepared for follow-up questions.

I would encourage you to practice on a few written cases before you receive the formal assessment, so you develop an understanding of how to structure your time and approach.

I've worked with multiple candidates for written cases, so if you have any questions, don't hesitate to reach out directly.

Best,
Cristian

Hey Mads :)

For EY-Parthenon TSE take-home cases, focus on telling a clear story: start with a concise structure (market, company, deal rationale, risks, and recommendation). Prioritize key drivers like synergies, valuation impact, and integration challenges. Keep your slides clean, one takeaway per slide, backed by data or logic. Practice talking through your reasoning rather than just showing numbers. If you can, review a few M&A or commercial due diligence cases to get familiar with the flow.

best, Alessa :)
