BCG quantitative reasoning test

Hello everyone,

As mentioned, I've received BCG's quantitative reasoning test. I got the link last night and I would like to know if anyone has gone through it and would have advice to prepare for it?

I've had experience completing SHL tests along with some tests at investment banks, should I expect this one to be any different?

Thank you in advance for your answers!

Hi there,

The BCG Quantitative Reasoning Test is quite different from standard SHL or investment banking aptitude tests. While SHL tends to focus on straightforward numerical reasoning (ratios, percentages, charts), BCG’s version is designed to be more business-contextual and adaptive. You can expect:

  1. Case-style questions – Each set of questions is built around short business scenarios or data exhibits (tables, charts, graphs). You’ll need to extract relevant information rather than just apply formulas
  2. Time pressure – It’s fast-paced; accuracy under time constraints matters more than finishing everything
  3. Adaptive difficulty – Questions adjust in complexity depending on how you perform, so it’s important to stay consistent throughout

How to prepare:

  • Practise interpreting business data quickly (profit margins, growth rates, market share changes)
  • Refresh mental math and estimation to save time
  • Review official practice materials if provided, or use resources for BCG’s older “Pymetrics” and “Cognitive” style tests for similar logic and numerical reasoning patterns

Best,
Evelina
