BCG from application to invite

In my experience experienced-hire recruiting timelines vary a lot and on average take longer than traditional on-campus recruitment.

This is mainly because the firm needs to coordinate several senior interviewees, as well as interviewers who come from a smaller pool with expertise in the relevant practice area.

In my experience with several coachees, the process can take anywhere from a few weeks to several months. At one extreme, I have seen BCG completing the entire process in less than a month because it urgently needed a Project Leader in a specific industry (insurance) for several upcoming projects. At the other extreme, I have seen a process (again with BCG) take four months because the firm wanted to interview every candidate before making a final decision. One candidate postponed his interviews twice for personal reasons, so the other candidates were placed on hold.

For an initial response to your application, I would allow at least 2 to 3 weeks. If you have not heard anything by then, it would be reasonable to follow up with your recruiter.

I would be happy to share my thoughts on your question:

• First of all, there is unfortunately no general timeline for experienced hire applications. From my experience, the first feedback can come within a few days, but it can also take several weeks, since these processes are far less standardized than campus recruiting.
• Moreover, since the speed also depends on the current hiring needs of the offices, I would advise you to reach out to the recruiting department of these offices if you have not heard back after two to three weeks, since no one else can tell you for certain where your application stands.
• Lastly, I would advise you to use the waiting time to already start with your interview preparation, since the time between an invitation and the first interview can be rather short.

It could take a few days (especially if referred) and up to even a few months.

Generally I advice candidates to be about 80% case ready when they apply.

Your job is to apply to dozens of firms/roles because any single application has low odds.

Congrats that you managed to apply through a referral! I hope that helps you get past screening. 

I don't have specific data for those offices, but typically it takes a few weeks. 

There's not much that you can control about it. The best thing you can do in the meantime is to prepare for the actual interview and to send out more appliactions so you have more opportunities for interviews.
