BCG Final: Follow Up with another offer

Hi everyone,

I completed my final round with BCG SEA a few days ago and haven't received an update yet. I recently received another offer, but the deadline isn't soon.

Would it make sense to inform BCG's recruiter now, or is it better to wait until closer to the deadline before following up?

I'm curious whether early follow-ups could potentially influence the decision timeline. For example, whether it might accelerate things or risk them holding off if they're still deciding or even considering another interview (heard several cases of additional interview after final round from BCG SEA).

Thanks in advance!

Hi!

I would write an email to the recruiter letting them know your situation, that you're really still interested but you have another offer and you'd appreciate the the outcome feedback.. something like this:

Hi recruiter x,

I wanted to check in and reiterate my strong interest in BCG and the XX position. I've recently received another offer with a decision deadline of datexx.

Would it be possible to share any brief update on my timeline for the process? I had my interview on the [date XXX]. Any information you can provide would be greatly appreciated as I weigh my options.

Thank you very much for your time and assistance.

It's okay to ask for feedback!

Good luck!

Hi,

If I were you, i'd inform the recruiter of a competing offer (assuming it is material), and use that to accelerate the process.

Having a competing offer is not going to change the process - i.e. decide whether or not to give you a 3rd read, or change your scores. It will however accelerate the process IF they deem you as an attractive candidate and also feel that the competing offer has a risk of stealing you away.

So...if the competing offer is from another MBB firm, yes, this will light a fire under HR's bottoms. But if it is for a job/role that the firm does not think is that great of a role (e.g. Big 4 or a boutique firm), then you have less leverage.

Hi there,

You can definitely let BCG know, but timing and tone matter. If your other offer’s deadline isn’t very soon, it’s usually better to wait until about a week before that deadline before reaching out. At that point, send a short, polite message to your recruiter explaining that you are still very interested in BCG, but you have received another offer with a specific deadline and wanted to check if they could share any updates on your process.

This kind of message is common and professional, and it can help accelerate a decision if they’re close to finalizing, but it won’t hurt your chances. If you reach out too early, though, it might not have much effect since most offices need time to complete their internal debriefs after finals.

Hi there,

If your other offer deadline isn’t coming up soon, it’s best to wait a bit before informing BCG. Final-round decisions at BCG SEA can take anywhere from a few days to two weeks, and recruiters usually won’t accelerate the process unless there’s a clear, time-sensitive reason.

Once you’re within 5–7 days of your other offer’s deadline, that’s the right time to send a polite note to your recruiter. Keep it short and professional — something like:

“I wanted to share that I’ve received another offer with a response deadline of [date]. BCG remains my top choice, and I wanted to check if you could share any update on my application timeline.”

This signals genuine interest while giving them a reason to move faster if possible. Sharing it too early doesn’t usually help and could just add pressure without changing their process.

Happy to help you prep – feel free to reach out.

Best,
Evelina

Congratulations on your offer and final round with BCG.

I believe the best practice here is to inform your recruiter about your offer and that BCG remains your preference (if that is the case). They likely will ask the timeline that you have to respond in which case of course share that honest information.

Let me know if you wish to discuss further - good luck!

Congrats on the offer!

Yes, I would follow-up asap with the BCG recruiter telling them you have another offer with a deadline and that you would appreciate if there's any way they could provide their own answer sooner.

Needless to say, be polite and it should all be fine.

Best,
Cristian

Hey there :)

it’s usually fine to give BCG a polite heads-up about your other offer now. You can just say you’re very excited about BCG and wanted to be transparent about your timeline. That rarely risks anything and sometimes can help them prioritize your feedback. Keep it short and friendly.

best,
Alessa :)

Since you interviewed only a few days ago, and still have a long time to go before you have to provide an answer to the other company... just wait.

Of course, if after a couple of weeks they still don't have an answer and that is an offer you would like to consider accepting, reach out to them (you can also do it before the 2 weeks, but it would be strange to rush them when you are not in a rush yourself).

This won't hurt you. Also doesn't change your chances, but may help speed up the process.
