BCG Dubai - Feedback on hold

Hello,

I completed the interview process for the SA position (generalist) at BCG mid February, but I am still waiting for the feedback.

I reached out to HR already couple of times. First time they said they were still completing interviews with other candidates. Second time they said they were recalibrating the results and that feedback would have been provided soon.

Now, almost 3 months since my last round interview date have passed but no feedback yet. My referral (partner at the firm) told me it might be due to the global economic downturn, but I am seeing people still getting offers and/or negative outcomes. I have two friends who applied more or less during the same period, and, one of them have been rejected one week after his last interview, while the other is also still waiting for a feedback after 2 months.

Is anyone in the same situation or knows what might be the reason for this huge delay? If that is a rejection, why would they wait for 3 months to communicate it? If the outcome is positive, why don't they tell me, even if potentially I need to wait longer to start the job?

Many thanks in advance!

Hi,

Sadly this is common right now due to a low number of projects in some areas and general economic downturn.

I suggest you do two things:

  • Continue to lightly keep touch - send an email once a week to the HR/Recruiting team/your referral Partner.
  • Continue to look for other opportunities - it's also disheartening to to hold out to a place that doesn't have the decency to let you know especially after you've completed the full interview process.
  • I really think if something better comes along and makes you an offer, take it. Don't turn down the chance of a good job for the MAYBE chance of an MBB.

Good luck!

Hi,

  • Long delays like this at BCG Dubai are unfortunately not unusual right now, hiring is slower due to market uncertainty and headcount approvals taking longer, even if interviews are completed.
  • It does not automatically mean rejection, if it were a clear no, you likely would have heard already; you are probably on a waiting list.

Stay in light touch with HR once every few weeks, but also keep exploring other options so you stay in control.

This is a common situation.

Most likely, they’re still evaluating whether to extend you an offer—comparing your performance with other candidates they’re interviewing right now.

You haven’t been rejected, so not everything’s lost.

Nothing you can do here except follow up politely and start applying to other firms to diversify your risk in case BCG passes.

Best,

Alberto

Hi there,

Q: Is anyone in the same situation or knows what might be the reason for this huge delay? If that is a rejection, why would they wait for 3 months to communicate it? If the outcome is positive, why don't they tell me, even if potentially I need to wait longer to start the job?

Given what you shared (other candidates being rejected while you have not been informed, HR not responsive to follow-ups), most likely they don’t have visibility on the pipeline of projects/recruiting, and they are waiting to understand the exact requirements to complete the hiring process.

Unfortunately, you don’t have much leverage in this case. The only possible option to accelerate the process would be to get another offer and reach out to let them know you would join a different company if they cannot provide an update.

Good luck!

Francesco

I can understand how this is incredibly frustrating.

I've heard similar stories.

Typically this happens when they are unsure whether to extend the offer or not. They are also likely on the fence about you and your performance in the interviews.

Honestly, you can't do much about it aside from waiting on this application.

Your efforts are better spent working on other applications and interviewing with other firms. Just in case nothing materialises with this application, at least you have something else to fall back on.

Best,
Cristian

Hey there 👋
Waiting that long without clear feedback is definitely frustrating 😕 What you're experiencing isn't uncommon — especially in regions like Dubai, where headcount planning can shift fast due to market conditions 🌍

The silence doesn’t automatically mean rejection or acceptance. It’s often a mix of: pipeline juggling, internal headcount freezes, or delayed budget approvals 💼 That said, if you’re still “on hold,” they likely still see potential — and that’s a good sign ✅

Let’s use this time to sharpen your plan B and keep momentum — happy to walk through strategy options together in coaching 💬

Best, Alessa
