BCG Casey invitation received - are grades still considered after document screening?

Hi everyone,
I just received an invitation to BCG’s Casey assessment in the context of a new graduate recruitment for next year. I’m excited but also a bit surprised as my academic background isn’t perfect: I am in a non-target school, and I have a strong recent Master’s GPA but some weaker grades in my Bachelor’s transcript, with some retakes and some F grades, which I had to submit in full. Maybe my CV compensated this.
My question is: does BCG re-evaluate the academic record after the Casey, or can I consider that the document screening is behind me at this stage? In other words, is the invitation to the Casey a sign that school/grades are no longer a deciding factor, or are they still in the mix for the final rounds?
Would love to hear from anyone who’s been through this process.
Thanks a lot!

Hi,

Resume screening and the Casey assessment are sequential phases, so receiving an invitation to Casey means you’ve already passed the resume screening stage.

That said, your application is still accessible throughout the process. In cases where your assessment or interview performance is borderline, they might refer back to your resume and academic record as a deciding factor. However, if you perform well during the Casey and in your interviews, your resume and past grades should no longer significantly impact the final decision.

Overall, I’d take the invitation as a strong positive signal and focus on preparing for the assessment and interviews.

Good luck!

Hi, short version: the invitation means the CV screening is behind you. From here it is almost all about how you perform in the Casey and the interviews, and the academic record tends to come back only as a tiebreaker in genuinely borderline cases.

The one thing I would actually prepare, speaking as an interviewer: if the weaker grades or retakes come up in the fit conversation, have a short and confident way to address them. With a strong recent Master's GPA your story is an upward trajectory, what changed and what you learned, not an apology.

Hope it helps, feel free to drop me a message if I can help further and good luck!

Hi there,

Typically, they look at the Casey results together with all the other documents you've submitted in order to decide whether to invite you to the interview.

So the grades might still be an issue, though the likelihood is small. Recruiters tend to care more about your experience than your grades.

Best,
Cristian
