Bain - Experienced Hire - UAE

1. As far as I know, this is a relatively new addition to the interview process. I believe not everyone gets it, as it's more targeted at atypical profiles. It is an additional level of screening before the interviews

2. Deadlines tend to be generous, but my advice is to do it as soon as you can, meaning that you managed to do some prep/mock-up tests, and have the time to take the test without distraction

It seems to be a fairly new procedure, but longer deadlines aren't anything to worry about as they are likely hiring for the following year, not this one. 

Just use the time wisely, chat with some people who have taken the assessment, and if you can find similar practice modules, do those - the biggest pitfall I've found in these assessments is spending too long on a few questions; ensure you've budgeted enough time to get through as many of them as possible. Most similar assessments have options to skip and return to questions, so you can review all of them first before you start or work through the quicker ones.

1. Yes, it’s normal — most experienced hire applicants receive the SOVA as part of Bain’s process. It’s not usually a sign of pre-selection, rather just the first step to filter applicants.
2. Having a long deadline (like November 11th) is also standard. Bain often batches applications and gives candidates time to complete the test at their convenience, especially for experienced hire roles. You don’t need to read anything into it — just make sure you complete it in time and prepare properly.

Congrats on advancing with the process.

They send out the applications to the candidates who have a complete, valid application. So, typically, they do a quick scan of the application before sending out the test. They do an in-depth analysis once they also have the results from the test, and that's when they invite you to the interview. 

Re the deadline - it differs from region to region. I would advise you to do it at your earliest availability because that will also get the process started earlier.

Yes, Bain usually sends the SOVA to almost everyone who passes the initial basic screening, so it’s not yet a guarantee of interview but the next filtering step. And about the deadline, it’s normal that they give a few weeks, especially in the Middle East where processes are sometimes batched, so you don’t need to worry. Submitting earlier vs later won’t make a difference, as long as it’s before the deadline.
