Bain Consultant survey after TestGorilla

Some people are reporting having received a survey today from Bain asking about their Q1 start date availability. If you didn’t receive this survey is it safe to assume you’ve been rejected?

Hi there,

I understand that it can make one nervous that others have received a "next step" in the recruiting process, while you have not.

However, this does not necessarily mean that you have been rejected.
I will be honest. It is not the best sign, but it does not mean definitively that you're not in the running anymore.

MBB firms interview / test A LOT of candidates, and often the recruiters simply don't have the capacity to finalize next steps for an entire batch at the same time. This may very well be why some in your batch have received a "next step" while you have not.

MBB firms thankfully always give you a clear answer in the end, and typically quite efficiently. My advice is, until you get that definitive answer, try to stay positive.

I know this may not be the exact answer you were hoping for, but I do hope it helps a little bit.

Sincerely,

Thor

Hi there,

Not necessarily. Bain often sends these surveys in batches, and they are usually used for staffing and planning rather than final decisions. Some candidates receive them earlier simply because their applications were processed first. If you haven’t heard anything yet, it doesn’t automatically mean rejection because the process can take a bit of time. I am sure that you will hear from them within max. 2 weeks.

Best of luck!

hey there :)

I wouldn’t read too much into it yet. Bain usually sends those surveys out in waves, and different offices handle timelines differently. Some people just get them later. So if yours hasn’t come yet, it doesn’t mean you’re out, give it a bit more time.

best, Alessa :)

No, I would definitely not assume that.

It could have also been part of a survey. It doesn't imply anything directly.

Hope you hear back with good news soon!
Best,
