Apply with new email

Hi all,

I applied to one of McKinsey programs (Edad) in the past, and did not know that the Solve game score will stick to my profile for a year even when applying for full time positions later. I did not get accepted to Edad so I assume my score was low. Now, I am an MBA student and applying for Summer Internship role. I am hesitant to apply using my old account or create a new account to get another better chance at Solve.  Please let me know!

Hi there,

Q: I am hesitant to apply using my old account or create a new account to get another better chance at Solve. Please let me know!

Creating a new account won’t probably work as they should be able to connect you to the previous application using your personal data.

A rejection after Solve is not necessarily due to your performance in the game. They could also reject you for the rest of the application material (eg CV). For this reason, I would recommend working to improve your CV and Cover if needed and to find a referral.

Hi,

McKinsey values transparency and integrity. Using your existing account  may demonstrate consistency and honesty in your application process. I would advise to reach HR before starting your application process to check with them what's the best approach.

Cheers,

Alexandre

Hi there,

Actually, if it has been past a year you should be ok (they will ask you to re-take it normally).

If it's before that period, it doesn't hurt to ask them to retake.

Additionally, just because A does not mean B: A low score is NOT the only reason for not being invited to interview. Your background may not have been strong enough, your resume not well done enough, and you may not have networked enough.

Make sure to “fix” the above before applying! (Network and build up your resume).

Technically, creating a new account shouldn't work (because they match your profile with PII)…but feel free to try if you like.

Hi!

If I understand correctly, a year has already passed since you last applied. So the score should have disappeared from their records.

If in doubt, do contact HR and ask them whether you could retake the test instead of considering the old scoring. I've heard of situations when they were flexible with this.

Good luck!
Cristian

Hi,

Even if you create a new account they'll probably match your previous applications using other data points (your name, for example).
