I believe they are rather small and founded by British ex secret services, so that might explain why there's not much info around.

Still, I would recommend that you reach out to the recruiter to find about more about the format of the interview. You'd want to understand:

  • How many rounds there are and what does each contain
  • What is the structure of each interview per round
  • Is there is a case element, what is the format (live, written, candidate led, etc.)
  • With the cases, do they test for skills or also industry knowledge
  • Are the cases primarily from a certain industry
  • For the fit component, are they behavioural questions, situational or story-based
  • etc.

Hope this gives you a starting point.

Best,
Cristian

Hey there :)

Hakluyt interviews are usually very case-lite and focus more on commercial intuition, problem-solving, and fit. They love candidates who can think logically, communicate clearly, and show curiosity about businesses and industries. Expect conversational case discussions rather than structured frameworks, and be ready to discuss past experiences that demonstrate judgment and impact. If you want, you can reach out and we can go through some prep together.

best, Alessa :)

Hi there,

Hakluyt can be tricky since they keep things quite discreet. My suggestion is to reach out to HR to ask them how best to prepare.

My sense is that they would focus less on traditional business cases and more on judgment and critical thinking on more complex geopolitical topics. I’d suggest reading up on current affairs, practicing structured thinking (like you would in consulting cases), and being ready to discuss how you’d gather insights or assess risks.
