What does your typical work day look like?

Hello,

it would be great if you could share what a typical work day looks like for you. How many meetings do you have and much is rather anayltical work? Also, is it possible to influence the projects you work on?

Thanks.

Hello and thanks for the question. According to my experience, there is no such thing as a “typical” working day in consulting, as the environment is too dynamic and every project setting is different. But you can roughly say that the day starts with a check-in call with the project team to briefly agree on what meetings are coming up and which tasks will be completed by when and by whom. This is followed by either the processing of these tasks, meetings with the customer or further meetings within the team. We usually take a break at 12 o'clock. If we are together in our headquarter in Essen or at the customer's office, then of course we spend it together in the canteen and - if there is time - take a short walk around the site. In the afternoon, we spend the time working on our own tasks or attending customer meetings. In the early evening, there is usually a check-out call in which we discuss the work status and, if necessary, reallocate resources to ensure that all tasks are completed on time. In addition to your own project work, you can also get involved in various internal topics on a voluntary basis. These include, for example, recruiting processes (e.g., interviews or recruiting events) as well as the development of training courses or participation in internal work groups.
