Interview-related questions

Hello! I'd like to ask some interview-related questions in detail:


1. Is the case interview led by the interviewer or the candidate?
2. if the candidate's personality and the interviewer's personality are different, how to communicate effectively in the interview? (For example, the interviewer is a very introverted and analytical person, while the candidate is extroverted and enthusiastic ...)
2. Do candidates need to prepare slides to present at the end of the case interview?

Dear participant, 

These are very good questions, let me give you my point of view.

1.Is the case interview led by the interviewer or the candidate?

At the beginning of the interview, the interviewer will inform you of the dynamic of the interview as well as the times for each part (Introduction – Case – Questions you have for him). He/She will guide you through every part of the interview. 

A tip related to the Case, once the interviewer has introduced you the case, I recommend you to guide him/her through your thinking structure/framework to solve it.

2. If the candidate's personality and the interviewer's personality are different, how to communicate effectively in the interview? (For example, the interviewer is a very introverted and analytical person, while the candidate is extroverted and enthusiastic ...)

I believe this is a perfect way of evaluating whether you are a good fit for ADV C. In real projects you will have to deal with a great deal of different clients with different personalities. For me, being able to find a way to connect with them is part of the skills needed to be a “good consultant” (not just for ADV C but for any consulting firm). 

Now, let me give you a personal tip that I use and has worked out for me so far ;). 

Before starting the case interview, I would try to find common grounds to “ice brake” the situation and make the atmosphere more relaxed.

3.Do candidates need to prepare slides to present at the end of the case interview?

When I did the process (last May/June), I did not have to prepare slides. The interviewer will present you the case you will working on during the given time.

Dear participant, just to add on this:

1. The case interviews at ADV C are highly interactive, so after an introduction of the problem by the interviewer, the candidate develops her/his ideas and during the result presentation the interviewer might asks questions and open ups the discussion on the topic 
2. Just state your strenghts in the beginning (e.g., strong social skills) and how you can contribute with them to the team and then just trust us when we say that all our interviewers are very empathic and try their best to respond to each type accordingly
