RWE starts off 2024 with a solid quarterly result. We saw an increase in earnings in offshore wind, driven by better wind conditions, as well as in onshore wind and solar due to capacity additions. As expected, earnings in the flexible generation segment were below the exceptionally high previous year level. In the first three months of the year, 42% of our electricity generation came from renewable sources. With €2.3 billion net in the first quarter, we invest massively to continue to expand our portfolio. Currently, we have projects with a total capacity of 8.3 gigawatts under construction.

About 1,800 acres of solar power! Our Hickory Solar project, located in Mitchell County, Georgia, is a true renewable powerhouse. This is especially true since the plant, with an installed capacity of around 195 megawatts (MWac), is coupled with a 40 MW (80 MWh) two-hour battery storage system. Hickory Park is one of our many projects in the U.S. We already have a strong presence here, but we aim for more as we consistently work towards expanding our renewable portfolio in the country.

In Sicily, surrounded by olive trees, you can find our onshore wind farm, Selinus. Its 6 turbines generate enough green electricity to power around 22,000 Italian households per year. As our 15th wind farm in Italy, it is also a great testament to the growing renewables footprint we aim to establish in the country.

Stronger together for offshore wind 🌊🌬️We have signed framework agreements with both Hitachi Energy and Aibel for the joint supply of three high-voltage direct current (HVDC) systems for RWE offshore wind farms out of our global development pipeline. These allow electricity transmission from offshore wind farms to onshore connection points. This partnership enables us to secure early the necessary engineering and production capacity for future offshore wind farms to be integrated into the grid.

10 years and still going strong! 💪 For a decade now, the 16 turbines at our onshore wind farm, Goole Fields 1, have been reliably producing green electricity, enough to power up to 25,000 UK homes per year. And there’s more to it than green energy – via the Goole Fields Wind Farm Community Fund we are investing in projects that benefit the local community throughout the farm’s operational lifetime.
