[Vote, then expand for answer] Between 2024 and 2034, our latest Global Fleet and MRO Market Forecast expects the number of commercial aircraft worldwide to expand at a compound annual growth rate of 2.5%, reaching more than 36,400 aircraft by the start of 2034. That’s up 28% from today’s fleet of around 28,400 aircraft. Biggest-fleet honors throughout the decade will remain with North America, where the fleet today tallies around 8,200 and will grow to 9,850. By comparison, the Western European fleet has a little over 5,300 aircraft today and is expected to grow to almost 5,900 by 2034. China has around 4,100 and will grow to just over 6,400. That means China’s fleet will be 65% as big as North America’s in 2034, versus 50% in 2024. Dive into the data > https://owy.mn/3KezmQI #fleet #aviation #aircraft

How to decide whether to build or buy software? While many businesses put software at the heart of their operations, they fall into the trap of forgetting the three most important questions when evaluating whether to build or buy: 1. Does the team have the rock-solid technical skills required for the job? 2. What are the opportunity costs? 3. How does the business culture enable success? Nick Padon, a mechanical engineer and principal in our Energy and Natural Resources and Digital teams, provides a guide for organizations to make the call that is best for their long-term success. In celebration of National Families Week in Australia, we are sharing stories throughout the week on why a family inclusive workplace is important to our colleagues. “Oliver Wyman’s 26 weeks of paid parental leave for both primary and secondary carers recognizes that adding a child to your family impacts both parents, and that meaningful time off is crucial during this transition - particularly in the early days. I have received tremendous support from my colleagues both in the lead up to, and during, my leave. This has enabled me to focus my energy on my son without concern for my career. “The flexibility of when and how I take the leave has been particularly important in enabling my husband and I to most effectively care for our son without sacrificing our professional goals,” said Anna Pavlakis, Principal at Oliver Wyman. We're proud to share that Oliver Wyman Australia has been recertified as a Family Inclusive Workplace, recognizing our commitment to our colleagues' work life wellbeing with leading policies and practices on flexible work, parental leave, family care and family wellbeing. To receive ongoing accreditation organizations must demonstrate how they are evolving their policies and procedures to support their employees. [Vote, then expand for answer] Although it wasn't until ChatGPT's launch that employees across industries and occupations began to embrace generative AI with zeal, the technology has actually been around for more than 50 years. It took more than two decades for half of Americans to adopt smartphones, and almost twice as long for them to acquire electricity at home. Yet in just months, ChatGPT and new generative AI tools have captured the attention of approximately half of the global workforce. We dive into workforce implications > https://owy.mn/3K9wMep #AI #genAI #workforce
