We were honored to participate in and sponsor the World Procurement Congress 2024 last week, where our experts engaged with industry leaders and executives in London. Anna Fritz Månsson and Bahige El-Rayes alongside CPOs from Haleon, The HEINEKEN Company, and Mars Petcare, hosted a session with procurement leaders and executives, exploring the future of procurement and sparking insightful discussions on how to future-proof procurement teams. Amidst technological advancements and global challenges, the session highlighted essential strategies for teams to thrive, not just survive. Following our panel session on the mainstage, we continued the conversation with leading CPOs in a CPO Challenger discussion. Diego Barillà and Thibault Lecat presented on how powerful forces are shaping a new reality for executives and the importance of future-proofing procurement amid uncertain times. Explore key highlights from Bahige El-Rayes and Thibault Lecat below. #PLWPC

Savi J., Consultant, San Francisco “My parents have the classic immigrant story, arriving with just $20 and working tirelessly. I, on the other hand, grew up much more fortunate in the Bay Area, where ambition thrives and notions of becoming a healthcare revolutionary or building the next billion-dollar start-up swirl in the air. The bedrock of this environment is competition – move fast and break things or someone else will. However, with my parents' guidance, I learned that while competition is absolute, being competitive is optional. Collaboration is important to push boundaries. My parents emphasized this value because they believed that their success was achieved through the support of others. The people they supported also echoed this notion. This belief has strongly shaped my identity and interaction with my community. Staying rooted in my Asian American community has given me the confidence to build communities beyond my ethnic identity. I learned that community is built and strengthened through intentional investment, and this understanding pushed me to contribute and accept support from my community. Now, my definition of community has expanded and covers my neighborhood, friends of differing backgrounds and small business owners like myself. It's been a transformative journey that changed how I perceive people and recognize their success as mine. I have an innate desire to serve my community, and I do so by volunteering and running a pop-up bakery in my neighborhood. My bakery uses seasonal produce from farmers' markets. The proceeds support two San Francisco-based non-profits focusing on urban agriculture. I’ve learned valuable lessons about permits, 'popping-up,' and teaching others how to pop-up. These experiences reaffirmed my belief in the power of collaboration. Collaboration equates to knowledge sharing, allowing others to elevate the existing knowledge and, in return, benefitting everyone. This entails transitioning from a scarcity mindset to one of abundance, requiring a certain privilege - the assurance of access to resources. Through collaboration and community, we extend that privilege – the same one that made me who I am.” #AANHPIHM #atBain
