Performance Benchmark Study for the KLM

Performance Benchmark Study for the KLM Experience the real job as a consultant by working on simulated projects and get the best preparation for your dream job in consulting!
4.0 5 66

The Dutch airline KLM is facing intense competition and has been working hard on staying afloat to survive the competition. KLM is facing increased competition on two fronts. In the short-haul market, KLM is feeling the pressure from low-cost carriers who are taking up market share. In the mid- and long-haul market, KLM is facing intense pressure from the Gulf carriers.

Our job is to conduct a root-cause analysis into KLM's performance. What is driving the problem at KLM in comparison with its industry peers. During this project we will compare KLM performance with Lufthansa and British Airways as full-service airlines and with Ryanair and Easyjet as low-cost service airlines.

Based on our analysis, we need to determine where the problem lies for KLM. Working on this project will help you increase your knowledge on the aviation sector and will teach you how to perform a benchmark study.

We often use benchmark studies to assess our own performance e.g., if the industry cost average is 12% and ours is 20%, we're doing something wrong. In our case we will be looking at the financials of these airlines. We will focus our analysis completely on the financial data only so that you can get accustomed to reading and using numbers.

You will learn how to use financial analysis to isolate the cause of a performance problem. You will learn how to benchmark different companies and what to look at. You will learn a lot about the aviation sector and what drives performance for the aviation sector.
