Hi Anonymous,

Reflecting on my experiences throughout the past seven years at E.ON Inhouse Consulting, the most important thing I wish I had known at the start is the importance and value of personal relationships to clients, i.e. colleagues in other departments of the company. While decisions taken and opinions voiced seem to be entirely fact based and data driven at the surface, I have learnt that often very personal motivations drive people’s behaviour. Such personal motivations are also frequently not directly related to the project, but stem from a wider perspective. Hence, I find it today very important to get to know my clients and co-workers in the projects on a personal level, so that I can understand their motivations and values. This personal bond then helps in challenging project environments, when for example clients not agreeing with my proposal give me a personal call and openly explain their view rather than send an email to a larger group of people…

I hope you find this helpful.
