Rejection for a Bain intership - but do they want an application for a full-time position?

Hi everyone,

I've recently applied for an intership at Bain even though I graduated this summer. I wanted to get a better feel of the company from the intership.

I got a rejection on the internship ("too many applicants"), but in the Email it says " We hope that you will consider reapplying for full-time employment with Bain&Company".

Does anyone know if this means I should reapply for a full-time position now? Or is this just a standard that means I can reconsider applying after the recommended waiting period?

Sorry to hear. Of course it's always disappointing if you get a rejection. I assume you were rejected even before the interview stage, so you didn't have the chance to ask the interviewer or recruiters directly.

It's difficult to interpret and speculate about the specific context based on this summary. I suggest to reach out to the local recruiter and check in with them directly. Nobody on this forum can give you a qualified answer on this.

Unless there was anything personalised around your situation, it sounds like the default email they would send to turndown summer internship candidates. It's hard to say without knowing anything about your profile and so connecting with the recruiting team is probably the best thing to do!

Yes, you can apply both for an internship and full-time in that case. However, try to make your resume stronger by that moment:

Additional internship
Extracurricular achievement
Strong GPA
Etc

Hello!

I am not 100% clear on whether that is a tagline or one of those ocasions that was an "almost" -in those cases, normally you get a call from the consultant encouraging you to re-apply-.

In any case, who cares? If you are interested in trying again, your focus now should to strenghten your CV as much as you can, with insightful experiences, both curricular and extra-curricular.

Furthermore, can you clarify whether you got rejected in the CV phase or the interviews? I am asking since that changes the approach.

Hi there,

I'm sorry but this is indeed just a standard "tagline".

In order to not miss your shot for full-time applications, you'll need to ask yourself the following:

1) Have you gained more experience?

2) Have you shown progression (promotion and added responsibility) at your job

3) Does your resume look better? (Better format, sharper bullets, etc.)

4) Have you networked with the company + office?

If you answered "No" to more than 1 of the above, do not re-apply until you've addressed the above Otherwise, you'll have ruined your chances a 2nd time.

In Summary: how do you improve your screening chances?

1) Gain experience (internships, bootcamps, classes, stratups, extracirriculars, etc).

2) Network - speak to multiple people across offices and aim to get a referral

3) Review your resume - make sure your formatting is sharp/consistent, key words/experiences pop, and your experience bullets are properly written.

I'm still a little unsure about why you applied for the ACI position, given that it is mainly for juniors to work over the summer. And yes, that is a standard tagline.

The reason they say that is because as I mentioned, it is mostly rising juniors applying to the ACI and Bain wants them to re-apply for full-time before they graduate.
