Hello, what is Mckinsey reapply rule? Is it like the BCG?

Hi Anonymous,

the standard ban at McKinsey is 2 years; according to your performance, as for BCG, they may reduce the period to 1 year or 6 months. If that’s the case, the interviewer/HR will normally let you know the reduced period after the interviewer; if not specified otherwise, you can assume it is the standard period.

Hope this helps,

Francesco

Ex-MBB, Experienced Hire; I will teach you not only the how, but also the why of case interviews

2 ways to go at it:

1. Follow interviewer's guidance if any

2. Else, reapply when you have something else to offer (new degree, additional work experience / responsibilities)

Often the above will be 1 to 2 years

Hi Anonymous,

this depends on the market you're considering. But generally MBB firms have similar timings in a given market. As usual - your best strategy is to reach out to recruiting at your taget McKinsey office and ask.

Cheers, Sidi

Hi there,

Usually the ban period lasts 12-24 months. But you can contact HR and discuss your situation.

All the best,

GB

Dear A,

Normally, it's 12-18 month. But in every case, I would recommend you to contact HR first.

Hi,

It's 1-2 years depending on your situation. You can shortcut by:

  • Getting a degree (Masters / MBA)
  • Applying full-time vs the internship
  • Winning a local case competition (only relevant for some countries)
