How to ask indirectly for a referral?

From a Call with Partner

and

From a Call with Engagement Manager

And how to confirm that referral is granted?

Hi there,

First of all, you do need to realize that the odds of this are generally low (that's why we play the numbers game).

Fundamentally, your focus needs to first be on just simply impressing and connecting with them! If they like you, and think you'll be a good fit, well that's the table stake of getting a referral!

Then, all you can do from there is "hint" at a referral. As in, at the end of the call simply say "Thank you so much for your time. This has really helped confirm that x company is a great place and I'll be applying in the coming weeks. Do you have any last minute tips for me"

Then, the ball is in their court!
