Hi there,

I did two rounds interview with L.E.K consulting on 23rd July 2021. I have not heard from them since then.

I sent an email on Tuesday August 10th to express that I am glad for the interview opportunity and I would like to know the feedback or result. However, they have not yet replied.

Is it usual that consulting firm does not inform the interview result?  What should I do in this situation? How long does it take them to make a decision and inform the candidate?

P/S: I am applying with the Singaporean office.

Updated

So, the recruiter sent an email back to me on 13 Aug and told me that they are still reviewing the candidates who went through the interview round. They will inform me if  I am shortlisted for the role.

Until now, they have not yet sent me any update. Should I send an email to ask them again? Or I should give up my hope and understand that I failed because no one contacted me.

Thank you very much for your advice!

P/S. Did anyone joined the interview with L.E.K Singapore for a Consultant position last month  and receive the result from them? Please raise your hand! Thank you very much.

Hello,

I am sorry to hear this is happening to you, it must be quite frustrating. I agree with Ian in that you shouldn't assume it's a no until you officially hear from them, but the fact that it's taking so long isn't a great sign. That being said, it could well be that the recruiting team is very busy and it's taking a little longer than usual to finalize the process.

I would follow up with them if you haven't heard anything by the end of the week.

Am hearing about very similar behavior from them in the Middle East region too. Not great to be honest.

Fingers crossed for you.

Hi there,

First off all, sorry to hear you've been given the run-around like this. Not great form!

While I firmly believe we can't count ourselves out unless we're actually told so (you never know), I will be honest and say it doesn't look great. They should have completed the interviews by now.

There is still hope in that they've probably made an offer to a candidate and are waiting for him/her to accept (if they don't for another firm, you may be next in line). This is conjecture of course, but I've seen this happen.

If I were you I'd actually try to reach them via phone as a followup.

Fingers crossed for you.

Hi there,

Unfortunately some firms don’t keep a structured followup process for candidates. This is what I would recommend:

  1. Send a new email (now it’s 2 weeks, so totally fine to followup)
  2. If they don’t reply, call them after one week
  3. If applicable: start to network with other firms for a backup option. You can find some tips on networking here: https://www.preplounge.com/en/consulting-forum/hey-everyonehope-all-is-well-3176

Hope this helps,

Francesco

Yes. Same idea. I am a bit surprised because L.E.K is a prestigious firm. Maybe its practice in Singapore is not as popular as it is in other countries.

Hey there,

Overall very unprofessional behavior. Based on the updated email, I would say that you are not yet rejected and their process is ongoing.

Nonetheless, based on their lack of professionalism and treatment I would also be on the lookout for other opportunities.

Cheers,

Florian
