Dear Community,

I want to work in financial consulting. Areas of interest are M&A (Transaction services), Corporate finanace and Controlling/Performance management. Companies of interest would be rather boutique consulting firms like Horváth & Partners than MBB. How do the interviews differ in this type of consulting? What kind of preparation would you suggest? My thinking was to concentrate more on profitability and valuation topics.

Thanks in advance!

Frankly, there is no difference! You need to showcase your ability to conceptualize and analyze strategic problems. Whether it is embedded into a Finance background or not is not relevant for MBB-like firms.

Might be different for small niche players though.

Cheers, Sidi
