Basically the title. If the coach is certified with a tag, can we be sure that he is indeed who she/he claims to be, i.e. that he held that exact position at an MBB firm, etc.?

Hi there,

Yes, Preplounge does filter out coaches that do not meet their standards.

In terms of specific length at firms, or promises of success, of course you need to do your own due diligence and research them!

So, in general, you are "safe" on Preplounge. The coaches have all worked where they say they've worked. However, whether they're right for you, or will help you succeed is another matter...you need to figure that out for yourself...which PrepLounge quite nicely facilitates through chat features and reviews :)

On top of what Ian says - look out for contributions in the Q&A section and you will see those experts like Ian who gives solid advice.

Thanks Robert! :)

Great question but not sure the public forum is the best place to get a legit answer... The positions must be broadly right but I wouldn't fully trust the "100% successful offers", "200+ real interviews", "x years of experience" marketing that many experts have in their titles!

Hi Anonymous!

There is some check, but not a deep background check as you would have to go through when you sign an offer with a large consulting firm. Check out the forum contributions and the recommendations that an expert gets before you make a decision. And check out people's linkedin profiles to make a quick sense check of the information people provide (e.g. a person who joined MBB right out of university and left after two years will hardly have done any interviews for the firm).

In case of doubt, ask experts your questions upront. Everybody should be happy to provide additional information (and they should not charge you for the time for that ;)

FWIW, here's my linkedin profile so you can sense-check my profile if you want: https://www.linkedin.com/in/henninghuenteler/

Well most expert have their name, education level, profession and profile picture.
I would tend to think that even without background check from preplounge this would be super easy to make sure whether or not they are who they claim to be.
Should require less than 10min to find them on LinkedIn and make sure the information matches.

Not necessarily - some coaches have rather vague information - ie no surname, worked at multiple firms, etc, so finding them on LinkedIn is rather hard, especially if they are not working currently.

Hello!

I don´t think it adds any value for coaches to be answering this question, hehe.

Ask the PrepL community managers directly and they will tell you all you need to know

Hope it helps!

Cheers,

Clara

#1 MBB Coach(Placed 750+ in MBBs & 1250+ in Tier2)| The Only 360 coach(Ex-McKinsey + Certified Coach + Active recruiter)

Hi there,

Clara is right, experts are the ones to be asked about and answer here, so it's a good idea to check it with the PrepLounge community.
Though I doubt that experts would lie in their profiles, as the details could be easily found out.

Cheers,
GB
