Dear All,

I am in need of comparative data between BCG's Dubai and Doha offices in the following areas:

1. Career progression/opportunities for professional growth

2. Living in Dubai vs Living in Doha (including impact of "Qatar blockade" on regional travel)

3. Remuneration

Thanks in advance for your comments.

Dear A,

Regarding your Q1, career progress. The progress in Doha region will be the most probably faster than in Dubai, because this is the new market and competition is not as high as BCG Dubai. So you may expect that you can become parther or fast-track to manager more quickly than you would have done this in Dubai.

However, on the other side, regarding to your second question, the life-style in Dubai is a little bit better than in Doha, because Dubai is 7-10 years ahead of Doha. But Doha is quickly catching up, especially after Football Championship in 2022 things will improve even further and probably become more liberal place to live.

Q3. Honestly, I don't have this data, so I would advise you to go to Glassdoor and compare or may be any other expert here in Preplounge will help you. But IMHO it's more or less the same since both countries are tax free and the difference is not that big.

Just bare in mind that Doha is however severely affected by the travel embargo, especially now, during the COVID times ad most of the flies are cancelled the impact is even stronger. In Doha, most probably you will have more limited international exposure, than it used to be the case in Dubai, because out of Doha you may fly to some certain countries and also the governments of KSA and UAE will not allow the consultance from Qatar on their projects due to the government policy. So if you go to Doha, you will be more focused on Qatar, Turkey and may be Iran market.

Hope it helps,

If you need further insights, just drop me a line, happy to share my knowledge with you, since I have been working for roughly 2 years in the region.

Best,

André

Dear André, Do you have any updates on the situation? My understanding is that the travel embargo is now more or less lifted. I'm asking as I am currently also facing the choice to start either in Dubai or Doha. Would love to have your view!
