Hello,

What would a third stage experience interview with a partner entail? Also what would be the chances to pass this?

Have already had four case interviews and a behavioral interview.

Hi there,

Congrats on getting to the final round!

Yes, a few things to keep in mind for last round interview:

  1. Work on the feedback provided in the previous rounds. Most firms communicate the feedback from the previous rounds to the final interviewer. It's important then to show the final interviewer that you have a growth mindset and are reactive to feedback. This matters immensely. Make sure you are clear on your development areas and that you get the right support to polish them before the final interview.
  2. Expect less structure. Senior interviewers already have the confidence that you are a decent candidate, your skills having been already vetted by their younger colleagues. They are rather more interested in your as a person and your way of thinking. So they might present you with an unusual case, or one that is created on the spot or no case altogether. Expect anything.
  3. Focus on excellent communication. Senior interviewers care a lot about how clearly you communicate and how you manage to forge a connection with the interviewer. It's important to be top-down and concise as much as possible with your answers, while allowing the conversation to flow in a natural way.
  4. Put yourself in their shoes. The one question senior interviewers are asking themselves throughout the interview is what will happen when they'll put you in front of a client they've groomed for years? Make sure that even based on this first impression you seem somebody who can be trusted and who can work with any client regardless of how difficult they might be.

As a last note, if you want to increase the likelihood of success, consider hiring a coach to assess your readiness for the final interview.

This question has been asked previously in a similar fashion. You can read it HERE.

And good luck,

Cristian

Hello!

None will tell you about the chances coz that is a Bain internal data point (also, how is that relevant? You should only focus on what you can control).

The difference with the last last round is that cases can be totally different and unorthodox. Furthermore, FIT will be more important and take longer. If you want to deep dive on the topic, the "Integrated FIT guide for MBB" has been recently published in PrepLounge´s shop (https://www.preplounge.com/en/shop/tests-2/integrated-fit-guide-for-mbb-34)

It provides an end-to-end preparation for all three MBB interviews, tackling each firms particularities and combining key concepts review and a hands-on methodology. Following the book, the candidate will prepare his/her stories by practicing with over 50 real questions and leveraging special frameworks and worksheets that guide step-by-step, developed by the author and her experience as a Master in Management professor and coach. Finally, as further guidance, the guide encompasses over 20 examples from real candidates.

Furthermore, you can find 3 FREE Expert Articles on PreLounge, in a sreies dedicated to preparing for the different parts of FIT:

1. https://www.preplounge.com/en/articles/cv-interview-questions

2. https://www.preplounge.com/en/articles/motivational-fit-interview-questions

3. https://www.preplounge.com/en/behavioral-interview-questions

Feel free to PM me for disccount codes for the Integrated FIT Guide, since we still have some left from the launch

Hope it helps!

Hope it helps!

Hi there,

Q: What would a third stage experience interview with a partner entail? Also what would be the chances to pass this?

Sometimes the very last round is simply a fit conversion with a partner. However, if they haven’t mentioned a specific format, you should prepare for the standard fit+case

In general, in a final round, the interviewers may:

  1. Spend more time on fit and your alignment with the company.
  2. Ask questions related to the areas of improvement for which you got feedback after the first round.
  3. Not use a “standard” case. During one of my finals I had one interview made by two market sizing questions and a brainteaser, without any business case.

To prepare, you can work on the following:

  1. Review in detail your fit answers – they could ask more fit questions compared to the first round. In some finals I had almost exclusively behavioral questions.
  2. Work on the areas they mentioned you could improve, if any (eg. structure, creativity).
  3. Continue with your case prep. If you are tracking your performance, do drills for the areas where you are struggling the most / review cases where you made mistakes instead of doing just random cases.

#1 Bain coach | >95% success rate | interviewer for 8+ years | mentor and coach for 7+ years

Hi there,

First of all, congratulations on passing several interviews with Bain so far!

I think this is an interesting question that may be relevant for many people. I would be happy to share my thoughts on it:

  • A third stage interview with a partner at Bain typically entails a short behavioral interview, as well as a more in-depth discussion of your background, experiences, and reasons for wanting to join the firm. This interview is often used to assess your fit with Bain's culture and values, as well as your potential as a consultant.
  • During the interview, the partner may ask you about your experience working on specific projects, in a certain industry, and how you have handled certain situations in your past experience. They may also ask more strategic and conceptual questions about the consulting industry and business in general. They may also ask you about your long-term career goals and how you see yourself fitting into the firm.
  • It's important to be prepared to give specific examples from your past experiences and to be able to clearly articulate how your skills and experience align with Bain's values and the consulting industry. Additionally, it's important to be able to demonstrate your potential as a consultant and your ability to think strategically and conceptually.
  • It's difficult to say what the chances of passing the third stage interview are, as it depends on many factors such as the specific partner conducting the interview and how well you perform during the interview. However, if you have already made it to the third stage, it's likely that the firm sees potential in you as a candidate.

If you would like a more detailed discussion on how to address your specific situation, please don't hesitate to contact me directly.

Best,

Hagen

Associate Partner at Bain| ex EY-Parthenon|5+ yrs of coaching | Personalised approach and detailed & actionable feedback

Hi,

Congrats on passing through the multiple rounds of interviews.

I would check with the recruiter what the exact format of the interview is, but if they said its an experience interview, there will be no case or behavioural questions.

The aim of this interview will be for the partner to understand the details of your past experience, what you have done and how relevant it is for the role they are interviewing you for at Bain.

They might also ask the usual questions around why you want to move to Bain, where you see yourself in the next few years, etc..

Good luck,

Lilit

Congrats on getting this far! More of the same although you can expect some more unstructured cases and more proving PEI questions.

The case may start with a prompt like “ what do you think about…” and have very little exhibits. The PEI may probe you a bit on a certain experience.

Hi there,

Bain is now working on a new interview format with a different fit interview.

It makes sense to learn how to develop stories that are deep and insightful using a proper framework. While the article discusses the McKinsey-specific dimensions, the way content should be created, structured, and delivered would also be the same for the new Bain format: https://www.preplounge.com/mckinsey-pei

All the best,

Florian

30% off in April 2024 | Bain | EY-Parthenon | Roland Berger | Market Sizing | DARDEN MBA

Usually chances are high. It's more a confirmation stage as candidates that reach this point are definitely strong.

Fit questions are usually more common at this stage.

Regarding what to expect… there's no script… it really depends on the parter. Be prepared for anything.

Hi there,

Your odds are good. They would not waste their time and therefore they see you as a good candidate and would just like to “check”.

You should expect anything.

It might be a case. It might be behavioral. It might be both. It might just be a chat.

Go with the flow and don't go in with expectations (be adaptable)
