Hello everyone,

I was referred by a consultant (LA office) to one of the European offices. She has referred me in the portal but she is not sure how the referral process works at the back end.

In the meantime, I got a person who is working in the office where I would like to apply and he is likely to refer me as I have a strong profile but I have not asked him to refer as I have already referred by someone else.

1 - Does anyone know how the referral process works at Bain (European offices)?

2 - Does it make sense to have two people refer you?

3 - How much does the referral weigh in case it is from a different office?

Hi there,

First of all, congrats on getting a (maybe two!) referrals!

While I generally advise just 1 referral, it is tantalizing that you maye have one from the exact office you're interested in.

I would personally reach out to the LA individual and ask them if it makes sense for them to refer you (flagging that someone in Europe did). Say you really appreciate their help and LA is your top choice, so just want to make sure that comes across.

See what he/she says and take their guidance. Worst case scenario, they'll likely forward your resume to the LA office recruiting team :)

Hello,

I agree with Ian here - I would reach out to this new person who wants to refer you, let them know you already have a referral but that their office is your top choice, and ask whether it makes sense for them to refer you too. Congratulations!

Hi there,

Normally you can be referred by one person only.

However, you can align with the second person and explain they have already referred you and see if they still can mention you to HR. This should increase the chance that they will call you even if the second is not an official referral.

Hope this helps,

Francesco
