Bain Recruiting Delayed?

Bain & Company Experienced Hire Post-MBA

Does anyone (post-MBA) applied Bain in NA get an auto email  from them? Saying ‘Given our progress towards our 2023 hiring goals to date and our evolving capacity needs across offices, we now plan to resume our industry/experienced hire recruiting process in early 2023.’

I did my Hirevue interview weeks ago and was waiting for what's next and now they have this auto email saying ‘We are still very interested in your candidacy and would love to keep your application active and stay in touch with you over the coming weeks.' And asked me to sign-up for their event newsletter?! (a list that anyone can sign up)

But it ended with 'We hope to be back in touch in early 2023 with an update on our hiring plans and with more details on potential next steps in the recruiting process.’

So am I still in for 1st round case interview or there is more to do? Well, if I need to wait to hear some ‘potential next steps’ in 2023, then that's not just ‘weeks', right? This timing is really confusing.

Did this happen in past years?

Hi there,

Q: So am I still in for 1st round case interview or there is more to do?

From what you shared it seems that (i) you won’t be able to interview in 2022 and (ii) they still haven’t confirmed if you have passed the screening.

You may want to reach out to HR to ask for clarification, but in the meantime if you want to complete the recruiting process this year I would recommend to focus on the other companies.

Good luck!

Francesco

Hey there -

Are you still at school and which office are you applying to? If you are still doing your MBA, I have a few tips

  1. Check with your peers if everyone has received this or is it only for a few people
  2. Speak with your career services to have a chat with Bain and get clarity on the situation and have them do follow ups on behalf of the student body
  3. Follow up with the recruiter and with someone internally in the office you are applying to to get a better sense of what is going on

I am based in Bain London, feel free to reach out to me. I can have a look to check if there is something that I can do to support you.

Hi there,

Yes, this is happening! BCG is also doing the same. It's different across countries/roles/recruiting channels, but hiring has slowed a bit in some places.

Remember, we're almost in November which is 2 months from the end of financial year, so this is not a radical move by any means.

Keep networking with and applying to other firms!

Oh dear, there is a global economic downturn and we're seeing reductions in hiring for MBB across the board. You're right, this doesn't sound like a case of they'll let you know in a few weeks what the hiring profile is, but that it's going to take a bit longer than that. I'd recommend leaving these applications in train but then also making other applications to try to spread your opportunities.

Good luck!

Hey there,

Just call HR and discuss it with them specifically. You will get direct answers to your direct questions.

Rest assured that you are not alone. What I am seeing generally now across the industry is a slowdown in hiring. Some firms or areas have already implemented a full hiring freeze.

No surprise given the current state of the world…

All the best to you!

Cheers,

Florian

30% off in April 2024 | Bain | EY-Parthenon | Roland Berger | Market Sizing | DARDEN MBA

That's looks like bad news (i.e., you're not even confirmed for first round). But reach out to them, that's the best way to know 100% for sure.
