Is this question more about what was most meaningful to you personally (eg read a story about someone who worked on a mental health project and it held significance to him since he had struggled with it and now he was getting to help make changes that would impact others like him)..or do they need something flashy like high profile conference/huge revenues generated etc..?

Hey there,

It is not so much about the context than about the content of the stories and your actions. As long as you demonstrate the right qualities on your way to the achievement, your story will work. For drive/ achievement stories show

  • ambition and dedication by pursuing several goals at the same time
  • an intrinsic desire and motivation to achieve this goal
  • how you overcame obstacles or faced headwinds along the way by coming up with creative and new ideas or approaches
  • how you follow the goals with energy and passion until you reached the desired outcome

If you want to read more on how to prepare the best stories, read this article I wrote:

Florian

I have a very simple approach to this question:

If you are proud of an achievement - it must “show” on your face when you answer it. You must “feel” the same pride and excitement when answering the question. You must get that “tinkle” in your eye, the “spark” in your expressions, the “energy” in your mannerism - when you answer.

Imagine someone talking about their proudest achievement in a completely meh manner. What will be your impression of that person?

Sure you can draft answers that showcase your skills, struggles, highs etc. But it won't do it unless it shows on you. I personally feel in this kind of question the content is less important than your personality.

Happy to help you out with the personality aspect of answering your personal/fit questions! Let me know!

Hi there,

I would say it can be both! Honestly, the main thing is whether you have a "big" story/achievement that you can share/highlight with the interviewer. It needs to show you've done some things in your life, and if it adds personality/depth to your character, that's very powerful.
