I submitted my application to BCG 2 months ago. First option was a Nordic office, second and third options were Middle East offices.

I have neither received a Pymetrics link nor any feedback to my application yet. I called the front office in the Nordics but the recruiting team was not available and I left a message, then a recruiter got back and explained that July and August is summer holiday period and there can be some delay in getting back to applicants, and that they will make sure to view my application.

This email was 2 weeks ago, and still I did not get a response. I feel uncomfortable to call her again because she might get upset (and she is probably the one doing the CV screening).

Does this mean I am rejected by BCG?

“July and August is summer holiday period and there can be some delay in getting back to applicants, and that they will make sure to view my application.”

Last I checked it's still August…

Be patient here please!

Also, please don't hang all your hopes on BCG - in general accept rates are around 5-10%…apply to other firms! I applied to 30+ when I was recruiting. Please don't put all your eggs in one basket! Keep networking, keep getting referrals, and keep applying!

As you wait, make sure to also keep prepping!

Take her at her word! There would be no point in them keeping you on the system rather than just rejecting you if they thought that you were not a good match. The summer is always quiet as people are on holiday.

When is the application deadline (if there is one?)? If the application deadline has not passed then you can't expect a response until it has. If it has passed then you can write to her in a week (don't email) just to ask if she has a sense of timelines. It's perfectly ok to follow up, but make sure that you're doing so in a way which gives you the clarity which you need (rather than just asking if there's any news).

Good luck!

Thanks for your response! Actually applications are all year round, so they do not have a deadline.

Hi there,

This sounds rather unusual. Try contacting somebody else from the office that works in HR / Recruitment and tell them that you have not received an answer even after follow-ups and just want to make sure you have clarity over your application status.

Best,

Cristian

Hi, I recommend texting/calling HR without worrying about bothering them. They are there to help.
And no, it's not a clear sign of rejection (in this case a quick email would have been sent)

Best,
Antonello

You should not call again until mid September, unless you have a strong reason (e.g. last round from competing firm). As she said, it's holiday season. You'll have to wait a few more weeks.

Hello!

What I can tell you from my experience in the Madrid office is that there is indeed a huge stop of operations in the summer. I would wait for now, and if you don´t know anything by the 2nd week of sept, follow up.

Cheers,

Clara

considering we are still in August, you will have to yet patient. Until you dont get news you are still in game. I would suggest if you dont hear by mid September, reach the recruiters once again.

Good luck,

Lucie

Hi there,

Q: Does this mean I am rejected by BCG?

Not really. I would wait 2 more weeks and then follow up again (calling the office) with the excuse to “check if they received everything as you have not heard back”. In the meantime, you can continue the process with the other firms.

Good luck!

Francesco

I would give them a week or two more to respond (ie into sept) before calling again. Usually flagging another process that is moving along (e.g., if you have interviews at another firm) and has competing timelines typically can speed things up.

Of course don't lie, but if you have other processes which are moving along do flag these :)

Hello,

It definitely doesn't mean you are rejected yet - the summer months can be a bit slow in some geographies, as the recruiter pointed out. I would wait a few more weeks until we are well into September, and then give the recruiting department a call to ask for an update about your situation.
