One of the consulting firms I've applied (MBB) to has always asked to schedule an interview the next day. Is this a normal practice, given that consultants schedule are highly unpredictable? Also, I have already rescheduled twice since the interview just came very unexpectedly and I need more preparation. Would this rescheduling impact my chance of getting hired, and will the interviewer really care that I rescheduled since there are still other candidates to interview? Thanks a lot!

Just reschedule, easy – it's not going to affect anything, nobody cares.

it is not common for MBB to schedule short notice. There won’t be an impact on the hiring process if you ask to reschedule and you are totally justified to ask so since they proposed the meeting for the following day; still I would recommend to talk to HR directly if possible to reschedule the interview in order to show commitment, given you already reschedule twice.

Hello there,
It is indeed not a common practice, but I have heard directly of such occurences recently. Perhaps due to urgent need to fill suddenly empty slot.
Rest assured that rescheduling will never affect you negatively, as what important is your performance in the interview.

It´s not very common indeed to have interviews scheduled from one day to another.
Furthermore, I totally agree with rescheduling being the best option. You only have one shot at MBB, and you need it to be as accurate as possible.
It will not affect what-so-ever your chances of getting hired, since this is HR and has nothing to do with the consultants who will interview you. Is completly not related.
I rescheduled my interviews with Mckinsey myself back in the day, and it was the best decision I could possible make.

Hi!
No this is not very common, but it might happen if recruitiers try to fill slots of candidates who forfeited/rescheduled on short notice.
However - please don't let this put pressure on you in any way! YOU decide when you interview, not the firm! So politely inform them that it will unfortunately not work for you on such short notice, and that you would be very happy to schedule the interviewat any date after XYZ.
This has zero impact on your chances of getting the offer!

Scheduling 1 day in advance is not common. Moreover, usually, it's quite safe to reschedule. However, rescheduling more than 2-3 times is probably too much.
