Hi all,

I got an invitation to Deloitte SEA one day interview for Operations Transformation Consultant position. I was told that there will be two rounds: pure behavioral interview and case interview.

How should I best prepare for the interviews, especially the case part? HR told me that the case interview will last 1.30 hrs with simulating the actual client discussion. I will be given 30 mins to solve a half page case with four questions to prepare my solution, and 60 mins for discussion.

Many thanks in advance.

Hi there,

I recommend the following:

1) An initial planning session with a coach: 1 hour with a coach now will have a productivity multiplier effect on all your efforts moving forward. They will figure out what materials are best for you, guide you towards the best ways to learn, and come up with a preparation plan with you.

2) Leverage free resources first: PrepLounge Q&A and case library, Poets and Quants, SpencerTom, Google, etc.). Leverage these options, read-up, and over time you'll get a feel for what you really need and where you really need to invest your hard-earned $

3) Case with other PrepLoungers: Casing with other PrepLoungers is free. Not only do you get to practice casing, but you get direct feedback. Additionally, you learn a lot just from casing others. Finally, from other PrepLoungers you'll learn which materials/coaches are helpful.

In summary, while free options don't beat paid options, you can use them for a while to get a feel for what works for you. Have an initial coaching session to get you on the right track, then go the paid route when it's clear either 1) You are stuck or 2) It's clear the paid route will improve your productivity/progress

Feel free to ping me and I can give you steer on what to expect based on recent candidate reports.

I would recommend starting by trying a case yourself, then moving onto peer cases on PrepLounge, and finally getting a coach

Hello!

What you are describing is a written case interview, which are indeed becoming very fashionable nowadays as a way to interview!

Remember that the skillset tested is the same than in the "usual" cases, hence, all the practice you may have done totally plays in your favor.

One important point to add is the need to be very 80-20, structured and to the point, since the prep time is very short, so we need discipline with the analysis to have enaugh time to prep the communication strategy.

There are many many entries in thsi same Q&A regarding written cases, hence, I would recommend you to look with the keywords "written case"

Hope it helps!

Cheers,

Clara
