The BCG personal fit questions try to assess qualities of candidates in terms of
- Path Finding / Creativity
Ask for the CV of your partner in order to ask questions specifically targeted at passage of his or her life. While listening to the answers, keep in mind the two major criteria you have to evaluate:
Can I work with this candidate closely in a team every day?
Can I send the candidate to a client alone?
Make sure, the candidate follows the three basic rules for personal fit questions:
- Provision of a clear roadmap: The candidate has time to think of a structured answer.
- Using distinctive answers: Examples instead of generic answers help to remember a candidate.
- Using the answer to sell him/herself: The statements should still answer the question, but in a way that the candidate conveys useful skills.

- Showing drive and passion.
- Answering persuasive and while arousing interest.
- Having no values or principles.
- Being driven by others.
Tell me of a time where you had no idea what you were doing.
- Trying to understand the situation.
- Asking questions and being curious.
- Aspiring to learn and find a path in unknown situations.
- Covering up inexperience.
- No learning or take away acquired during that time.
When did you use an uncommon approach to do something?
- Showing creativity.
- Surprising other people with ideas.
- Solving the problem spontaneous.
Have you ever had responsibility for other people?
- Showing empathy and communicative skills.
- Guiding others as team member.
- Never facing obstacles.
- Having no impact on the group.
Tell me of a situation where you were not the official leader.
- Having an active part.
- Contributing valuable input into the group.
- Supporting the leader.
- Taking the leadership role.
- Doing the work alone without including the actual leader or other group members.
